8thblunder

Humanitarian Mahatma Ghandi just before he died gave the following list of the seven blunders of the world to his grandson Arun Gandhi and they are:

1. Wealth without work
2. Pleasure without conscience
3. Knowledge without character
4. Commerce without morality
5. Science without humanity
6. Worship withoput sacrifice
7. Politics without principle

When I first read this list my first thought was "spot on" Mr Gandhi, "spot on". Talking about hitting the nail on the head. It can't get truer than this..but then I thought there's a one blunder missing from the list.

The 8th blunder in my opinion is Religion without Tolerance.

Religious superiority must just die a quick death as it condones segregation and undermines cohesion. God is for us all and he is not a possession of nor contained within a specific religion. Hence the word omnipresent meaning he can be anywhere, anyspace, anytime, alltimes etc.
You can call him all sorts of names like Allah, Krishna, Buddha, God, Ramasedi, Modimo, Thixo, Jehova, Jahweh, universe, higherbeing, higherself etc, that does not change who he is. Different religions are neccessary for different spiritual tastes and not because the Gods are different. He is one, he will remain one, you found him as one and no amount of devotion and worship can change that.
So if you are one of those who think that your religion is holier than others because it claims the majority of fellowship, then I have two words for you..GROW UP! and whilst you are it, GET A BRAIN. The next time you are down on your knees and asking him for all sorts of things, try asking him for an above average intellect, that will assist in understanding him better and that will teach you to not call people hethens, sinners and hypocrites etc. An above average person would easily understand that sin is not a permanent state of consciousness and that sin is a "mishap" that a young soul makes on its physical journey. I am gonna end it right here because I don't want to get spiritual with yall so early in the day, all I pray for is for this message and all similar messages to reach the relevant audience in time for them to understand that we are in this journey together and that the purpose of life is to serve others over and above for our other commitments.
Serving others simply means making other people feel good about themselves and that they can do better instead of making them feel bad by pinpointing every perceived error in their conduct.
Nobody is perfect including the "fingerpointer" and as long as a person is not purposely "living bad", none of us have a right to judge.
So my last words for the day is that respect other people's life choices so they can be able to respect and support yours.

I am out..
Tums
